This week has been an interesting one in stage class. Through the many activities, scripts we’ve read, and play we went to see, I’ve changed and grown into a different person. I had lost my passion for acting in the past couple weeks due to overwhelming situations that had appeared. I am starting to get my passion back during the week of interesting warm-ups and very open discussions.

This week in stage class was an on and off week for me personally. I enjoyed playing the games and acting and laughing and its what we do all the time because we have so much fun. I feel like with the class and me included its been a rough two weeks with school in general don't know why but it has. I really was confused on the "sure thing" play we did I didn't understand the concept all that well; the tale tell heart was good because I've read the story dozens of times in English but never ever got to see it being acted out or even in the form of a play;I did like the imaginary play(can't remember it's name) because it took you back to when you had imaginary friends and when everything was so important an so big and to the extreme and made me realize how much we do grow as we get older. As far as Maple and Vine goes I loved it I laughed and smiled and carried on. What i liked lost about it was that Kathy and Ryu where doing this as a trial and made up lies just to fit in but they told the lies so much that the became engulfed in them; like they actually where in the 50's and that was really neat and cool. I thought the actors where great an what made it so great was that they where believable actors; they showed you emotion and drove you through just as they where going through it. I also loved the humor! They where hilarious. The main thing I loved was how they brought today's modernization back into the 50's such as google being the safe word keying in on the irony. All in all this week was good and just getting away as a class was great an i think it was something we all needed!

This week in stage was a fun one! The warm-ups were really fun this week. I really liked the dating game. The play "Maple and Vine" was one of my favorite plays I've seen. It was really funny and i liked almost everything about it. I didnt like how they used f@#$ it seemed like they just kindof threw it in there just to say it. It was also a member trip since we had to get pizza delivered to the bus. Also playing the stage games in the back of the bus was really fun. I think this week was one of the best!

I think "Maple & Vine" is my new favorite play. It was awesome! In the beginning I was highly confused when the 1955 couple kept showing up and "advertising" their community. I lost my mind when Dean & Roger were making-out. The whole cast made it feel so real, I didn't want it to end. I also want ed it to end differently, but we can't always get what we want. I guess I'm starting to become much more comfortable acting infront of everyone. I hate leaving stage class. I feel shut off from the world ( I guess that's the right phrase) when I'm in there. It's the only class I look forward to in school. "Zero Hour" kind of made me feel bothered but at the same time I liked it in a weird way. Angel did so good with being Mink, the tone of her voice made it more freaky to me. If I were watching it in the dark at a theater I'd be scared honestly. I liked the way Kristen did the stranger in "Tale Tell Heart", the flashlight made her more mysterious. Tori did a greatr job to. I think I like watching everyone else acting instead of acting myself. o.o I feel like I'm learning things from everyone also.

Well this week was super nice I feel my self improving each time we have class. I used to be that shy kid but it turned into me being the fun kid. The activities we have done are pretty nice. They keep me calm during the end of the day and wake me up. Sorry I have been out of it for like the last two weeks im just kind of missing my cousin that has died.

QuayWhen I see my students act in the classroom and on stage it's as if I am right there with them. There's no greater feeling than to watch them sparkle in their own way. It's magical really! :) Categories |
PA STAGE:
Weekly Reflection
A weekly summary/reflection of your experience as an artist in progress is due every Monday unless otherwise instructed. This means I want you to reflect on the prior week's activities, discussions, performances, readings of plays, new knowledge learned and/or any special moments that may have happened in class. Consider how these experiences helped you to grow as an artist in progress. Did a particular activity surprise you, amaze you, scare you? Did a particular activity bring you closer to the truth of acting and theater? Were you able to become a character or empathize with characters in plays we have read in class? This reflection is a place for you to be free, open and truthful with yourself as a student, actor and person. Use your best writing skills. I recommend that you type all journals in a WORD document and save them by each date in a Stage folder then copy and paste it into this blog. You will be able to have an account of each reflection and you will find it much easier to edit while in a Word program. You will receive a weekly grade for the depth, insight and skill you put into each reflection. I want to be able to read your words and see the growth you have made from week to week. I want you to enjoy this opportunity to reflect on your growth as an artist and a human being! Break a leg!
